Union dues or professional membership fees that you pay may be deducted on your return. If the dues or fees include GST, you may also be able to claim a GST rebate by completing form GST-370. Although you will have to include the GST rebate received as income on your 2002 personal income tax return, you will have been reimbursed for the GST paid and you will avoid paying tax on it for one year.
