Tip 84 - Should you use all your RRSP contribution room?

As long as you have RRSP contribution room, you may make contributions to your or your spouse's or common-law partner’s RRSP plan. This does not mean you have to immediately deduct the contributions. If your income in a taxation year is low, it may be beneficial to carry-forward the RRSP contributions and claim them in a future year when your income is higher.

The advantage of still contributing to your RRSP in a low-income year is that any investment income earned is sheltered from taxation.
